One of the biggest challenges with MS (or any other chronic illness) is fighting to keep the disease from identifying us. Amidst all of the time, energy, and money required for disease management, it’s easy to let the disease define us. Since MS is in our faces, it’s sometimes easy to let the rest of our qualities fade into the background.
I was reading a devotional today that helped to bring perspective back to me:
There are a lot of people who would trade their best day for my worst day.
How true. Yes, I have MS. But I also have healthy children, a loving husband, and a roof over my head. I could go on and on about what I do have in my life. If I sit back and think about all of the goodness in my life, I can affirm the statement that my worst day is indeed better than many people’s worst day.
