Have you gotten your flu shot yet?
The CDC reports that the flu season has gotten started early and looks like it could be bad this year. On the plus side, it looks like this year’s vaccine is well suited for fighting off this year’s flu strain.
If you’ve got MS, then the flu is of particular concern. MS and heat don’t go together well, and getting the flu is a recipe for disaster. The last time I got the flu, I fell in the middle of the night trying to get to the bathroom and had to wake my husband to drag me. He tried to help me get up, but I just couldn’t stand on my own. So ever since then, getting a flu shot has been a priority for my family and me.
Is the flu shot safe for people with MS? According to the National MS Society, the flu shot is definitely safe for people with MS. The mist is not recommended, since it is a live-virus vaccine.
So get the flu shot before the flu gets you.
